THE IDEA

In the spring of 2015, Big Brother Canada returned for a third blockbuster season, bringing unprecedented levels of audience engagement to the unique Canadian format. The new season’s strategy aimed to embrace and reward the show’s passionate fan base by delivering more ways to "play along", earn rewards and have meaningful influence on the show. Boosting the Big Brother Canada fan community and social presence of the show would be an important driver for success.

The Cross Platform experience

The season the house was under lock and key and featured a secret vault that gave the home audience the power to open the Vault and influence the show. Over the 10-week season, fans earned points by making predictions and consuming and sharing content on the site. By earning points, users unlocked higher levels, which in turn increased their voting power in the audience votes.

Our designs needed to match the aesthetics of both the mechanics of the vault, while stay lighting fast across any platform. To do this we introduced the use of flat UI, custom iconography and even custom bars and widgets to transport the the Vault from Big Brother into the hands of every fan across North America.
